Antonio Magnatta – Percussions

He began studying percussion instruments at the Conservatory of Foggia, graduating from the Conservatory of Piacenza and then obtaining with full marks and praise the two-year course of percussion instruments at the Conservatory of Parma.


The Faculty of Musicology attracted him to Cremona, offering an opportunity to deepen the study of the musical panorama in its broadest sense. In 2007 he graduated in Musicology with a thesis entitled “The jazz drummer: from accompanist to leader”. In 2011 he graduated in Musicology with a thesis entitled “Jazz-Rock – Fusion. Analysis of a false synonym.” After his university studies he undertook the concert activity that will see him participate in important festivals in Italy (Mantova Chamber Music Festival, Milano Musica, Biennale di Venezia, Expo Milano 2015, Festival Claudio Monteverdi) and abroad (Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival), FIMU 2011) in Theatres like Teatro Bibiena, Teatro Piccolo Arsenale di Venezia, Auditorio Stelio Molo – RSI, Auditorium Sole 24Ore, Teatro Litta, Palazzina Liberty – Milano, Archivio di Stato di Asti, Teatro Leonardo da Vinci – Milano, Teatro Gonzaga, Auditorium San Fedele, Sala Puccini.


The collaborations with Divertimento Ensemble, Ensemble Novecento (CSI Lugano), Ensemble Biennale Musica, Ensemble Bernasconi (Accademia Teatro alla Scala), Gruppo Musica Insieme, Ned Ensemble, Collettivo_21, represent occasions to play in the presence of avant-garde composers such as Salvatore Sciarrino, Helmut Lachenmann, Stefano Gervasoni, Giovanni Sollima, as well as opportunities to try their hand at important premieres and Italian premieres (both chamber and solo).


The strong interest in contemporary music finds fertile ground in collaborations with young composers, stimulating new curiosities useful to continue the research work along the infinite sound paths offered by this unlimited musical world.


Before dedicating himself exclusively to contemporary music, he had the opportunity to collaborate with various orchestral realities such as the Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Orchestra Arturo Toscanini, Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini, Orchestra Accademia Teatro alla Scala, performing in theatres and locations including Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Ridotto A. Toscanini Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Regio di Parma, Ridotto del Teatro Regio di Parma, Auditorium Paganini di Parma, Teatro Ponchielli, Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Donizetti, KKL Luzern, Auditorium Caruso Torre del Lago, Teatro Comunale Pavarotti di Modena, Teatro Farnese di Parma, Teatro Valli Reggio Emilia, Auditorium Arvedi – Violin Museum – Cremona, Duomo di Orvieto, Duomo di Milano.


He followed masterclasses with Eric Sammut, Nebojsa J.Zivkovic, Ney Rosauro, Ruud Wiener, John Beck, Carmelo Giuliano Gullotto, Andrea Dulbecco, Danilo Grassi, Maurizio Ben Omar.


In addition to the profession of interpreter, he also teaches at ISSM Claudio Monteverdi of Cremona and SMIM of Cremona and Province.
